A chief information officer (CIO) is a corporate executive that is accountable for the management of the reliability of the information, technologies like computers and implementation.
A chief information officer will examine the way different technologies have an advantage over a company or the way that they can be developed within a business. The reason being technologies have changed throughout the years and they have transformed the business world, making the chief information officers job role even more important.
In a company, the CIO will manage and develop technology as it increases globally. Their day to day job role includes them dealing with and managing the IT (information technology) systems.
