What is an exit interview?
In a normal exit interview, someone in the human resources department will ask you to carry out some forms to fill out. The majority of the time HR does not want to hear anything when you have resigned as it is over and done with. However, if something is said by you that is provocative, it will result in paperwork as your interviewer has to document everything including what is said by you.
The dos and don’ts:
- Do not vent during the interview, as an HR manager they do not want to listen to how your manager was not good or the views that you have as they do not matter anymore as they would have if you were still at the company as an employee.
- Ensure that you plan and prepare ahead of time.
- Allow yourself to focus on the positive and leave with grace.
