What is Goals or Goal Setting?
Goal setting refers to the process of establishing and laying down specific objectives and guidelines to aid and assist the employees in understanding, approaching and attaining organizational goals. Goal setting must be specific, achievable, measurable and realistic.
Goal setting starts from setting up quantifiable and measurable targets for the workforce to achieve, then breaking the target into a number of smaller milestones, settings priorities and aiming to reach individual milestones while documenting track records and objective reports before achieving the final milestone.
SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, result-oriented, time-bound) method can be used to define and set goals. Setting goals assists organizations in defining their priorities, establishing the direction of approach, identifying expected results, improving teamwork, clarifying expectations and gauging individual contributions.
