Minority business enterprise (MBE) is a designation from the USA for companies that are at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by (at least) one of the following minorities ethic groups:
- African Americans
- Hispanic Americans (not of the Iberian peninsula)
- Asian Americans (West Asian and East Asian Americans)
- Native Americans (including Aleuts)
In the UK a minority business enterprise is a business that is more than 50% owned and runned by a member of a minority (understanding by “minority” a group the members of which are of a different ethnicity, or have a different culture or religion to the majority of other people in the country).
